Convention of States
During the course of my campaign, I have continued to learn about the Convention of States, an organization whose objective is to rein in the power of the federal government. The right to a convention of the states is guaranteed in Article V of the U.S. Constitution. Convention of States Action (COSA) is a grassroots effort focused on curbing power of the federal government, returning power to states, cities, counties and our homes. COSA is attempting to compel the legislatures of two-thirds of the fifty states (34) to invoke Article V of the Constitution to call an amendment-proposing Convention of the States for the limited purpose of reducing the overreach of the federal government by building an engaged army of self-governing activists. Specifically, the COSA platform calls for a convention to address amendments addressing three subjects: "imposing fiscal restraints on the federal government, limiting the power and jurisdiction of the federal government, and limiting the terms of office for its officials and for members of Congress."
The Founding Fathers were wise to include Article V in the US Constitution. Kansas is not among the 15 states that have passed an Article V resolution. Dedicated people of District 106 and across Kansas bear at heart the interest of the state and its people, as they seek to educate citizens about the activities of the Convention of States Action and its work to end federal government overreach. To find more information about COS, please go to www.conventionofstates.com. I stand with them on their quest.

UPDATE!
The Kansas legislature will meet for one final day on May 21st to wrap up the session that was cut short due to COVID-19. The article in the link below shares an important viewpoint on those of us in favor of the Value Them Both Amendment to the Kansas Constitution.
VTB will not likely come up for a vote, but Medicaid expansion may be on the table. As this article discusses, the Kansas Bishops' stance is that the VTB Amendment must be passed before Medicaid expansion to prevent taxpayer-funded abortion. This is the situation that was forced on us from the KS Supreme Court's Hodes ruling, and because the House failed to pass the VTB Amendment. We need to be clear that pro-life leaders are not choosing to block Medicaid expansion to leverage VTB, as some have recently argued.
